Chocolate Cornflake Cake Recipe

Baking with children can sound more of a good idea than how the reality is sometimes. Making chocolate cornflake cake is super quick, easy and pretty mess-free too – bonus, right?! Chocolate cornflake cake gives most of us that nostalgia back to when we were children. It’s lovely to recreate those parent/child moments with our own children!

To make the chocolate cornflake cakes, we use this simple recipe:
50g Butter
100g milk or dark chocolate
3 tbsp of golden syrup
100g cornflakes

Additional items:
Mixing bowl
Cupcake cases
Wooden spoon
Patience depending on how old the child is!

After weighing out the ingredients, simply pop the butter, chocolate and the syrup into a pan and heat on low, until it’s all melted together – stirring as it’s melting.
If you prefer, you can microwave the butter, chocolate and the syrup instead. The best way to do this, is to microwave it in short bursts and keep checking it.

After the mixture is melted, in a large bowl, combine the cornflakes and the melted chocolate mixture.

Be careful though, as it will be hot! Using a wooden spoon, mix it all up thoroughly, until all of the cornflakes are covered.

When it’s all mixed, put the chocolate cornflakes into some cupcake cases and into the fridge. Once they’re all set, they’re good to eat!

We had so much fun making these. They’re a great way to use up the cornflakes that no-one in our house really likes – haha! We should’ve popped this on our Toddler Summer Bucket List!

Of course the finished chocolate cornflake cakes couldn’t be photographed before they’ve all been eaten! I can assure you that the girls enjoyed them all and I stayed good by not having a single cake!
