When it comes to naming your children, it can be a difficult task! We didn’t do the typical thing of sitting down and writing a list to choose either of the girls names – we did the opposite really!
I had always dreamt of naming my daughter “Amelia-Lilly” as I always loved the two names together. Of course we didn’t know that we would be having two girls. But when we named Amelia, at the time, I had actually forgotten about the “Lilly” part. I know, I sound awful “she’s called Amelia because I forgot the rest”.. haha.
Amelias full name is Amelia Mary Elizabeth. Her middle names have come from Grandparents names, because we are both very sentimental people and we both wanted to keep traditional family names going.
Naming Lilly, was a bit of a fluke – hear I am sounding bad again! I remembered while pregnant with Lilly, how much I love the name! Yes, Lilly is spelt with two “L”s.
Lillys full name is Lilly Olivia Louise. Olivia is a name we almost named Lilly, but we felt it was more suited to being her first middle name. Louise is my middle name, and is just rolls off the tongue for us to call Lilly “Lilly lolly-lou”!
What do they mean?
Amelia: A blend of the medieval names Emilia and Amalia. In Latin, it means “industrious” and “striving.” Its Teutonic meaning is “defender.”
Lilly: From the flower, a symbol of purity in Christianity.
I hope you enjoyed reading about how we named the girls! I know alot of people struggle naming their little ones, especially their second, third, forth etc!
Do you know what you want to name your children? How did you choose names?
